What is a soccer summer camp?

Just as a music camp would offer activities related to music such as learning instruments, singing, and music theory,… . A soccer summer camp is primarily focused on this sport, the most played sport in the world.
Structured as a soccer training program, these camps are spread across the U.S. and abroad, with the sole focus being soccer practice.
The camps can be offered as half-board or full-board to fit all budgets. There are also specific courses such as:
While many summer camps are co-ed, there are also camps dedicated exclusively to women’s soccer.
Who can participate in the soccer summer camp?
These camps are generally open to everyone, boys and girls, with age ranges from 5 to 22 years old, depending on the camp. The goal is to introduce young people to the sport, which is why there are many camps for young teenagers.
It’s a unique experience for them, the chance to learn how to play like the pros with top-level coaches.
A soccer summer camp is a sporting holiday camp where soccer is at the heart of the program. It’s not suitable for people who cannot practice this sport.
What is the structure of a soccer camp?
The structure of the soccer summer camp will entirely depend on the type of soccer camp selected and the location. We mainly distinguish between half-board and full-board camps, as well as camps in the U.S. and abroad.
Half-board camp in the U.S.
The half-board soccer camp includes only training, meals, and snacks. In this format, participants are welcomed in the morning for training sessions and return home in the evening after a shower.
As a bonus, some camps offer activities such as visits to iconic soccer stadiums or educational tournaments.
Full-board camp in the U.S.
In contrast to half-board, full-board camps offer an experience closer to a real summer camp. Once the young soccer players arrive at the camp, they will stay there for the entire duration, both day and night.
A typical day at these camps looks like this:
- 7:30 AM: Wake-up
- 8:00 AM: Breakfast
- 9:00 AM: Training
- 12:00 PM: Lunch
- 1:00 PM: Free time
- 2:30 PM: Training/match/outdoor activity
- 6:00 PM: Free time/relaxation activity
- 8:00 PM: Dinner
- 9:00 PM: Evening entertainment
- 10:00 PM: Bedtime
Of course, the programs will vary from one camp to another, so it’s important to check the details of each camp. However, generally, the participants spend as much time as possible on the soccer field.
Camps Abroad
Summer vacation is also a time for travel and discovering new countries. That’s exactly what some summer camps offer. Still focused on soccer, these camps are held in cities home to some of the world’s biggest soccer clubs:
These soccer summer camps are available as full-board or half-board, including hotel stays, meals, and leisure activities like excursions.
How much does a soccer summer camp cost ?
The price of a soccer summer camp varies depending on your selection:
- Duration
- Location/club
- Type of board
- Season (summer-June, summer-August, winter, etc.)
- Extras
- Specialisation
For a 5-day half-board summer camp, the cost is approximately $650 for a standard camp without specialisation.
For the same type of camp but with full-board, expect to pay around $1,100. Note that some clubs in the U.S. may be cheaper, but they may not offer the same activities and outings.
For a camp abroad, the price ranges from $1,700 to $2,700, depending on the country and specialisations. It’s important to note that transport to the camp is generally not included in most camps.
