Location
The training camp takes place at the Estádio da Liberdade, Montijo’s premier sports facility, in partnership with the local club CO Montijo.
Montijo is a town steeped in history that has grown alongside the river. Granted in the 12th century by the King of Portugal to the Military Order of Santiago, it was formerly known as Aldeia Galega before taking its current name in 1930. Situated on the south bank of the Tagus, across from Lisbon, it enjoys an exceptional location—just twenty minutes from the capital via the bridge or ferry—while retaining an authentically Portuguese atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of tourism.
The Setúbal region, of which Montijo is a part, is one of the richest in Portugal: the Tagus estuary, the Sado Nature Reserve, the Setúbal Peninsula, and its wild beaches—an exceptional natural playground for families looking to combine a camp experience with a getaway. For children on the field, it’s a stimulating environment rooted in a strong local sporting tradition, driven in particular by soccer.
The sporting Facilities
The Estádio da Liberdade offers a professional and well-established setting for hosting the camp. With a well-maintained field, spaces suitable for multiple groups at the same time, and a structured rotation system, the conditions in Montijo allow each group—from the youngest (ages 6–8) to the most advanced (ages 12–14)—to develop in an environment designed for growth.
The partnership with Clube Olimpico de Montijo adds a valuable local dimension: knowledge of the area, well-established logistics, and deep roots in the city’s soccer community—all of which directly benefit the participants.
Safety and security
The Estádio da Liberdade provides a safe and well-defined setting, ideal for coaching groups of young players under the best possible conditions. The coaches from the Real Madrid Foundation—UEFA-certified, selected, and trained by the Foundation—provide constant supervision, with a ratio of one coach for every 12 to 14 players.
The daily schedule—alternating between technical sessions, scheduled hydration breaks, and themed matches—ensures a sustained yet controlled pace, designed with the physical safety and well-being of each participant in mind. For those enrolled in the Multi-Sports program, afternoon activities are supervised by STE with the same spirit of rigor and care.

Training
In Montijo, the week is structured around a day-by-day progression. Every morning, the groups—organized by age and skill level from day one—work on a specific aspect of the game: ball handling, passing, pressing, transition… Targeted exercises, punctuated by breaks and rotations, ensure that each concept is firmly established before the players take the field.
In the afternoon, the field transforms into an arena: matches and themed tournaments allow players to put into practice what they worked on in the morning, with the intensity and enjoyment of the game. For those enrolled in the extended program, the day continues with multi-sport activities led by STE until 5 p.m.
Friday marks the end of the week with the official graduation ceremony—a moment of shared pride, eagerly anticipated by all participants since the first whistle blew.
Coaches and coaching method
What is happening in Montijo goes far beyond the scope of an ordinary summer camp. The coaches on the field at Estádio da Liberdade are professionals commissioned by the Real Madrid Foundation—UEFA-licensed coaches who work year-round at the heart of the Foundation and the Madrid Academy. Their presence in Montijo is no coincidence: it represents a strong commitment by the Foundation to bring its methods as close as possible to young Portuguese soccer players.
On the field, every intervention is tailored to the player’s age and skill level. Corrections are immediate, encouragement is constant, and guidance is individualized. With one coach for every 12 to 14 players, supported by local coaches, no one goes unnoticed—not even the most reserved of participants.
What these coaches impart is much more than technique: it is a football culture, nourished by the values that have made Real Madrid the most successful club in history.
