Why do an RB Leipzig soccer camp ?
RB Leipzig was only founded in 2009, which is incredibly recently for a European team. Within only seven years, Leipzig won promotion from the fifth tier of German soccer all the way to the Bundesliga. This was by far the fastest a team had been promoted to the top division in German soccer.
In their first season, Leipzig defied all expectations of them by going 13 games unbeaten. They played a normal 4-4-2 formation and would hit teams on the break with their blistering pace. Timo Werner was their main goal scorer, with 21 goals in 31 games and Leipzig finished in a very impressive second place.
Their meteoric rise even continued in Europe. Thanks to finishing second, they had qualified for the Champions League but ended third in their group. However, in 2019, they managed to finish first in their group. The club then managed to knock out Tottenham Hotspur and Atlético Madrid, which are not easy accomplishments. Their run eventually came to an end against PSG but RB Leipzig will be hoping for a Champions League victory in coming years.
RB Leipzig, a club built for success
RB Leipzig is owned almost entirely by Red Bull, although interestingly that is not what the RB stands for. As the German soccer association (DFB) does not allow advertising in club names, the club is actually called RasenBallsport Leipzig, or Lawn Ball Sports Leipzig.
Leipzig is where German soccer was born, and where the first ever German champions came from. However, in 2008, it had been years since a Leipzig team had even competed in a professional league, and yet the population of 500,000 surely deserved one. It was with that idea in mind that RB Leipzig was formed, and it seems very likely that soon enough, their trophy cabinet will be filling up.
