The camp program
The essentials
- Morning and afternoon training session
- Methodology based on the AC Milan academy
- AC Milan supervisors
- End of camp tournament
- One AC Milan Academy kit for each camper
- Participation certificate on completion of the camp
Training
When the camp start, the players will first be divided by age. Then at the end of the first day, the groups will change again based on each player’s technical and physical level.
There are generally 3 groups:
- 7 to 8 year olds: The youngest will mostly train with the ball: dribbling, shooting, ball control. The aim is to help them improve at the fundamentals of soccer.
- 9 to 11 year olds: At the intermediate level, the campers will work on their ball skills too, but also their technical and tactical skills: 3v2 or 2v1 match ups, man marking the opponent, positioning off the ball, in zones or when attacking. All these skills will be worked on throughout the week in different ways.
- 12 to 16 year olds: Finally, the oldest campers will deepen their tactical and technical training with exercises and drills that are more intense and advanced. Match ups will be more frequent in order to put what they are learning into practice.
Every day, the kids will have one training session in the morning and one in the evening. On the Saturday, the youngsters will play eleven a side friendly matches before the closing and prizegiving ceremony. The best bedroom will even receive a soccer ball!
Finally, goalkeepers can choose the specific training option for keepers. Specialised coaches will organise exercises and drills for goalkeepers throughout the week.
Coaches and coaching method
All coaches at the camp will have been trained based on the AC Milan mentality and method, created for these football camps. Indeed, the AC Milan Academy has created a method for developing the different aspects that young players need to develop at its innovation and development centre. There are four main components:
- Athletic development
- Technical and tactical development
- Mental strength
- Behaviour on and off the pitch
It is on these four pillars that the coaches will base their training sessions on during the week.
It is worth pointing out that all the coaches at the camp are qualified and supervised by ex professional players.
Staff and activities
There will be staff members dedicated to taking care of the campers outside of the training sessions. They will organise game and activities every evening, which is very beneficial to the blossoming friendships between campers.
Also, there will be an educator that will take care of the youngest campers.
Trips and days out
Considering the wonderful setting of the camp, the staff will organise hikes and walk to make the most of the nature at the hotel’s and pitch’s doorstep. The kids will breathe in that fresh, Italian, mountain air.
