The camp program
The essentials
- Program 1: Football focus: 32 hours of soccer divided between training, theory workshops and games
- Program 2: Football + English: 19 hours of football and 13 hours of English language classes
- Specific training for goalkeepers
- Visit to Anfield Stadium
- Boys and girls with separate programs
Training
The Liverpool FC camps offer two different programs to future campers:
- Football focus: 32 hours of football divided between training sessions, theoretic and tactical workshops, and games
- Football + English: 19 hours of football and 13 hours of English classes
Both programs are offered to boys and girls.
Once the choice has been made, the kids will be split into different groups depending on their age and their skill level, after a first morning of football to gauge their level. Of course, the coaches will make sure that every player is in the right group and will make readjustments so that everyone improves the most they can.
All the kids follow the same schedule. The only difference is the morning session from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, when the Football Focus group will have a training session and the others will go to their English class.
Methodology:
The training program was designed alongside the Liverpool Academy, so as to teach the kids the Liverpool way of playing football: fluid play, very high intensity and very attacking.
The youngest will learn the main basics of Liverpool play while the oldest will learn more in depth tactics, with specific focus on how to improve at their preferred position.
During the camp, the coaches will alternate between technical exercises and match like situations to practice the tactics learned during the training sessions and the workshops.
Indeed, every day at 7:30 PM, the campers will take part in a football workshop, to learn different tactics and how they work, to do video analysis sessions and to discuss topics to do with football such as nutrition and diet or rest and recovery.
Finally, goalkeepers wont just stand around in goal. A specific training program is put in place for them with exercises dedicated to their position. They also participate in the technical exercises and match like situations where needed.
The club’s values will be crucial throughout the club: ambition, dignity, respect, commitment and of course, unity.
Coaches and coaching method
The Liverpool coaches conceived the training program with the Liverpool Academy. This training program will therefore help every camper push themselves as far as they can and improve the most possible over the course of the camp.
All the coaches are highly qualified and experienced. They have all been certified by Liverpool FC, with focus on their mentality and making sure that they share the values of the club.
Staff and activities
As well as the team of coaches, there will also be a team of staff members dedicated to helping the kids, making sure that the campers are enjoying themselves and organising fun activities.
From wake up to meal times to free time, they will do everything they can to make sure that the kids don’t need anything and are having a wonderful time.
Trips and days out
Any football fan dreams of one day visiting one of the world’s most famous and biggest stadium, Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium. It is a legendary place with possibly the best atmosphere and crowd in the world on matchdays. The youngsters will be lucky enough to have a guided tour, with access to the dressing room, the edge of the pitch and the various passageways of the Reds’ Stadium.
On top of that, campers that stay for two weeks will go to Alton Towers, one of England’s biggest theme parks. With 202 hectares and no less than 34 different rides and attractions, it is the perfect time for your child to seek all the thrills they can before taking on the second week of camp.
Language Class
The English language program version of the camp guarantees concrete learning with 13 hours of lessons a week, and this is reinforced throughout the rest of the camp. Indeed, on the pitch, during activities, at mealtimes, the kids will be encouraged to speak English. The kids will be learning every hour of every day!
When they arrive, the campers will be tested and then divided into groups based on their English level.
The camp employs the CLIC (Content and Langue Integrated Learning) method to ensure efficient and intensive teaching and learning. This method, based on conversation, has been proven to work. It encourages the children to speak as much as possible and gives them a lot more autonomy and freedom, and fun activities brings out their creativity and willingness to learn. The campers will improve very quickly!
At the end of the week, every student receives a written report, a certificate and individualised feedback from their teacher, with advice on how to keep on improving after the camp.
