Why do a Toronto FC soccer camp ?
Toronto FC became the first Canadian team to compete in the MLS when they played in the 2007 season. In 2017, they had their most successful ever season, winning the domestic treble : the MLS Cup, the Supporters’ Shield and the Canadian Championship.
It is hardly surprising that the first Canadian club came from Toronto, since it is such a sporty city. Indeed, it is home to 8 professional teams, including basketball, baseball and ice hockey. Toronto is also responsible for two recreational games: five pin bowling and axe throwing !
There are also plenty of worthy places to visit in Toronto, such as Kensington Market, which has selections of foods and items from all over the world. The Toronto Zoo is also a must when visiting, with fascinating animals in a beautiful setting, with some interaction being possible with the animals.
Toronto FC, a club that cares about player development
In 2010, Doneil Henry, a defender, became the first home-grown player to sign a professional contract for the club. Since then, they have signed a further 18 home-grown players and they take great care in developing their young players. That is why they are the only club in the MLS to have a a High Performance Department, which “focuses on the cognitive development of all athletes.”
They have a unique methodology that is applied to the first team, the second team and to all the youth teams. This is the methodology that will be in place at the soccer camps too since the coaches are so well versed in it.
