Reviews of the camp Jean Michel Larqué
Camp facilities
The essentials
- Summer camp in Saint-Jean-de-Luz – Pyrénées-Atlantiques department (64)
- High-quality facilities (secondary school that hosts boarding students year-round)
- Well-maintained football pitches close to the accommodation
- Safety ensured by qualified supervisory staff
Location
The Larqué summer football camp takes place in the magnificent setting of the Basque Country, the adopted region of former French international Jean-Michel Larqué. It is held entirely in the beautiful town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a seaside resort located on the Atlantic coast, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department (64).
Accommodation
Throughout the camp, children will be accommodated in the facilities of a secondary/vocational school that hosts boarding pupils during the academic year. Whether you choose the half-board or full-board option, your child will be well looked after. Rooms are shared between participants, with both triple and quadruple rooms available.

The sporting Facilities
The sports facilities used are those of the town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Three large natural grass pitches are available to the children throughout the summer. As the Jean-Michel Larqué football camp has been running for many years, these facilities are very well maintained to ensure optimal football practice. In case of bad weather, the indoor gym allows training sessions to continue indoors.
Furthermore, these facilities are located just a few metres from the accommodation. Camp participants walk to the changing rooms and pitches without even having to cross a single road!

Catering and food
As the children are hosted within a secondary/vocational school, all meals are provided on-site within the school itself. Meals are varied to ensure that children eat well while receiving the necessary nutrition to support their football activities.
Please note that any food allergies must be communicated before arrival at the camp so that the staff can ensure your child’s health and safety.

Safety and security
As mentioned earlier, the entire camp takes place within the boarding school complex. Indeed, the facilities used for meals and accommodation are just a short walk from the sports grounds.
The accommodation and leisure areas are enclosed within a secured perimeter, preventing any outside intrusion. In addition, non-football supervisory staff are present with the children 24/7.
Jean-Michel Larqué is present on-site every day, from morning until evening.
The camp program
The essentials
- Available in full-board or half-board option
- Jean-Michel Larqué is present to oversee the coaches and players throughout the camp
- Training sessions combining technical and team-based work
- Daily matches to put training into practice
- Coaches and supervisory staff hold the qualifications required by the French authorities
Training
Each morning begins with training sessions focused on individual technical skills. During these sessions, children are divided into groups that support individual progress. Jean-Michel Larqué supervises each group and regularly steps in to offer his valuable advice throughout the week.
Afternoons are dedicated to team-based football practice. Children are organised into teams and take part in a tournament, giving them the opportunity to apply everything they learned in the morning. Coaches also provide guidance to help players improve their positioning and tactical understanding of the game. After all, isn’t it said that one match is worth ten training sessions ?

Coaches and coaching method

Beyond Jean-Michel Larqué, who is present on the pitch every day, all the coaches who train the young players throughout the week have been personally selected and recruited by the former French international himself.
During the camp, each coach supervises an average of around 10 players and holds the qualifications required by the French authorities.
In terms of methodology, as you’ve seen, the Larqué camp combines individual work with collective application. The football is at the heart of most drills and activities the players will take part in throughout the week.
Staff and activities
All supervisory staff (excluding coaches) are selected by Jean-Michel Larqué and all hold at least the BAFA (Brevet d’Aptitude aux Fonctions d’Animateur – French youth work qualification).
As the camps have been running for several years now, the animation teams change very little. This ensures strong cohesion among the staff, which is clearly reflected in the quality of activities offered to the children.
