The essentials
- Takes place in a very famous British independent school: Lancing College
- Top quality sporting facilities
- Exceptional excursions and trips: sightseeing in London, day at Brighton Beach with walk on the Pier as well as a tour of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
- Allergies and dietary requirements are both taken into account
Location
In a word, Lancing College is incredible. Located on the south coast with a sensational view on the sea, it is one of the biggest schools in Great Britain. It is only a fifteen minute drive from the beautiful coastal town of Brighton, in the east of Sussex.
Founded in 1848, Lancing College has a phenomenal academic reputation. Naturally, its sporting facilities match their reputation, and are of the highest class.
Accommodation
Lancing College is an exceptional location for a holiday. Your kids will spend a week (or two) in a historic setting with some of the best infrastructure in England.
There are single and double rooms as well as dormitories. Campers will be divided into room on arrival, based on age.
A swimming pool, a gym and a common room for the kids to play video games, table tennis and cards are sure to keep them very busy. There is also a little shop to buy extra food or drink if the campers are so inclined. Wi-Fi access is available throughout the campus.
The pitches, the cafeteria and the accommodation are all found on the same campus, so everything is within walking distance. Your kids will spend an incredible week in a very British environment!
The sporting Facilities
Nike is not the kind of brand to do things by half, and the sporting facilities will live up to expectations. Extremely high quality, the campers will train in the same conditions as professional players. Lancing College has 8 natural grass pitches as well as 3 covered pitches, guaranteeing training no matter the weather.
A footballer’s work is not done as soon as they step off a pitch though, and Nike is well aware of that. That’s why the youngsters will also have a sports hall and an indoor swimming pool at their disposal, to add to their training.
Catering and food
The camp is available in full board, with all meals included: Breakfast, dinner, afternoon snack and dinner.
All meals are thought out by nutritionists, who make sure that they answer to all the needs of young athletes.
Of course, if your child has any dietary requirements or allergies, these will be taken into account and an alternative will be prepared. Remember to write them down in the sign up forms.
Safety and security
Security and safety are crucial at all Looking For Soccer football camps. At Lancing College, other than excursions and day trips, everything takes place within the same campus, and a security team is available 24 hours a day. They will make sure that all the campers are safe.
The camp program
Training
Nike Football camps allow the players to choose between two different programs:
- Total Football: 30 hours of football, through training sessions, workshops and games
- Football + English: 17 hours of football and 13 hours of English classes
After arriving, the kids will have a morning of technical tests so that the coaches can put them into balanced groups (also taking age into account) so that each player will improve. Throughout the week, players can change from group to group if needed, to make sure all campers are enjoying themselves and being pushed sufficiently.
The schedule is the same for both programs except in the afternoon. Total Football campers will have a training session whilst the students that chose English lessons will have class from 2 to 5:30 PM.
The training sessions are inspired by some of the very best football players in the world contracted with Nike: Mbappe, De Bruyne, Ronaldo and many others. Nike has poured all its expertise into the training program to make sure that each and every camper will progress and make the most of their time at the camp.
The camp’s methodology is based on the combination of technical exercises, workshops and match like situations so that the players can learn and then put everything they learn into practice.
It is very important that every player improves accordingly to their level, and enjoys training and playing. That’s why the younger players have a training program more based on improvement and having fun, while older campers will have more intense training sessions based on performance. Regardless, in both cases, the camp’s priority is to push the players so that they improve tactically, technically and physically.
On top of that, the coaches emphasise understanding of the game and self-confidence. Your kids will improve in both these areas during the week.
Coaches and coaching method
All the coaches at the Nike football camps are professionals that have a real passion for helping young players develop in a fun and inclusive environment.
The coaches have all worked at a top Premier League club or have, at the least, a UEFA B license. They also have considerable experience with young players, and will conduct training sessions that answer to their needs and objectives.
Staff and activities
The extra-football activities are organised by the Nike staff, who will supervise the campers day to day.
The staff will be there 24 hours a day and will do everything they can to make the week totally unforgettable.
Trips and days out
The Nike football camps are also a great opportunity for your child to go on amazing excursions, both on a cultural level and for having fun.
All the campers will sightsee in Brighton, visit its theme parks and funfairs on the seaside, and, if there’s enough time, spend the afternoon at Brighton Beach. Also on the schedule, a tour of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, to see the old warships. The exceptional cultural tour will end with a shopping trip to Gunwharf quays.
For children staying two weeks, an extra sightseeing trip to London is on the agenda, including Big Ben and Buckingham Palace!
Language Class
Those participating at a Nike football camp can also choose to have English lessons. If they do, they will have 13 hours of class with qualified and certified teachers. The kids will keep learning outside the classroom too, as English will be omnipresent throughout the camp: on the pitch, during the workshops and with the other campers. Your child will be totally immersed in the English language for guaranteed progress.
After arriving, all students will be tested to check their English level and then divided into equally levelled groups.
The kids will then have English classes every afternoon, based on the CLIC method (Content and Language Integrated Learning). This method has been tried and tested, and it works so well because it is heavily grounded in conversation. It helps the students gain self-confidence, express their creativity and become more autonomous. Consider the completely British environment and you can see why your child will be sure to improve.
To optimise teaching, the Nike football camps guarantee a maximum of 12 students per teacher.
So that the parents have a concrete assessment of the work their child has done, they will receive a written report, a certificate and individualised feedback from the teacher.
