The camp program
The essentials
- Morning and afternoon training session
- Methodology based on the AC Milan academy
- AC Milan supervisors
- End of camp tournament
- One AC Milan – PUMA – FLY Emirates Academy kit for each camper
- Participation certificate on completion of the camp
Training
Every day, the kids will have one training session in the morning and one in the evening.ย
On the last day, the youngsters will play an eleven a side friendly matches before the closing and prizegiving ceremony.
After the players step on the pitch for their first training session, they will perform tests based on their age to see what skill group they belong to. Then, the groups will be readjusted to make sure everyone is in the right group. Of course, players that perform particularly well throughout the camp will go up groups. The idea is to have balanced and fair groups of players.
The kids will be put into 3 groups:
- 7 to 8 year olds: They will mostly train the basics of football: ball control, passing, dribbling, shooting.. the fundamentals.
- 9 to 11 year olds: The intermediate campers will work on their ball skills too, but also their technical and tactical skills thanks to theory sessions that are then implemented in 3v3 or 2v2 match ups. Man marking in defensive phases will also be taught for example, as well as positioning off the ball in attacking phases.
- 12 to 16 year olds: Finally, the oldest campers will deepen their tactical and technical training with exercises and drills that are more intense and advanced. Match ups will be more frequent in order to put what they are learning into practice.
There will also be a specific program for goalkeepers, who require very different exercises and drills to improve!
Coaches and coaching method
All coaches at the camp will have been trained based on the AC Milan mentality and method, created for these football camps.ย Indeed, the AC Milan Academy has created a method for developing the different aspects that young players need to develop at its innovation and development centre. There are four main components:
- Athletic development
- Technical and tactical development
- Mental strength
- Behaviour on and off the pitch
It is on these four pillars that the coaches will base their training sessions on during the week.
It is worth pointing out that all the coaches at the camp areย qualified and supervised by ex professional players.ย
Staff and activities
There will be staff members dedicated to taking care of the campers outside of the training sessions.ย They will organise game and activities every evening,ย which is very beneficial to the blossoming friendships between campers.
Also, there will be an educator that will take care of the youngest campers.
Trips and days out
Considering the lovely seaside setting of the camp, the staff will organise some beach trips. These will depend on the weather: it is better for them to be having fun swimming in the sea when it’s swelteringly hot rather than sweating on the pitch.
