The training program focuses on producing soccer players and athletes with strong human values. Indeed, human qualities and morals are at the heart of the International Development Academy’s projects. With this in mind, here are the pillars of their program and methods:
- Integrity: respect and compassion are crucial values for IDA coaches and will be omnipresent throughout the camp
- Good behaviour: coaches and players alike must behave well at the camp in all circumstances and situations. It doesn’t matter if they just lost a match or the training session was particularly difficult, good behaviour is imperative.
- Accomplishment: the coaches will push each and every camper so that they can achieve their high goals and objectives.
As well as offering summer soccer camps, IDA is a soccer academy that hosts students all year long, combining studies and the beautiful game. They have locations in five different countries across Europe and the United States and help many players every year gain scholarships for universities thanks to their soccer skills. It is a incredible springboard for many students. It is testament to their quality as a soccer academy. Location
This International Development Academy soccer camp takes place in Reading, England. Just an hour outside of London, this town borders England’s biggest river, the Thames, and has a host of cultural and historical significance. In fact, there are over 850 buildings that are classed as historical monuments.
The campers will be hosted in Hillside Court, a student accommodation a short walk away from the famous Reading University. The sporting facilities are fantastic, with the latest artificial pitches as well as natural grass pitches.
Your kids will surrounded by soccer culture, as the town has a club that is currently in the Championship, England’s second division. Reading breathes soccer, and this will certainly rub off on your kids.
Accommodation
The Hillside Court accommodation that will welcome your children is very British, allowing an immersion into British culture for the two weeks of camp. The campers will have access to high speed Wi-Fi so that they can share with you the details of the camp and their trip.
The campus is made up of shared bedrooms with bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and common rooms for the campers to spend their free time together. On top of that, there are also ping-pong tables as well as a huge garden for enjoying time in the English sun.
The student accommodation is just a few minutes walk away from the centre of Reading.
The sporting Facilities
Considering the camp takes place in the same academy that hosts young soccer players year round, your children will have access to the latest, high-quality sporting facilities. A brand-new natural grass soccer pitch has just been built, facilitating top-quality training sessions.
All the soccer pitches are equipped with video recording gear, meaning that the training sessions will be filmed. The coaches and players will then analyse the footage together, allowing for very well rounded progress.
The campers will also have access to a gym, where they will be able to reinforce the physical improvement they will be seeing thanks to their training sessions. They will also have access to other sporting facilities, such as ping-pong tables.
Catering and food
The soccer camp is only available in full-board, with three meals provided a day. The campers will eat in the student accommodation canteen.
The International Development Academy enlists the help of nutritionists specialised in the diet of young sportsmen. The menu of balanced and nutritional meals will give the kids everything they need in terms of energy and fuel for their training sessions and progress.
As it is a crucial part of any athlete’s success, there will also be lessons on diet and nutrition at the camp.
Of course, the camp will take into account any dietary requirements the campers may have. Remember to indicate any dietary requirements or allergies in the sign up form, and these will be taken care of.
Safety and security
Since the International Development Academy in Reading hosts youngsters all year, security is paramount. You can be reassured that security guards will be onsite day and night, and a video-surveillance system will be more than enough to guarantee their safety.
As well as the security guards, the IDA staff will also be onsite day and night to supervise and take care of your kids.

Training
The training program at the International Development Academy is very complete and rounded. This is because it was designed and conceived by experienced coaches with UEFA Pro and UEFA A qualifications. Each player’s improvement as a soccer player is central to the camp, but it isn’t the only thing that is central. This camp is unique in its efforts to help the players progress in a mental and human sense, by pushing them to the limit with intense trainings and advanced objectives. There is a double aim at this soccer camp: to get your child to improve and progress both on the pitch and off it.
To achieve this goal, the days are divided into three separate training phases:
- The mornings are dedicated to technical and tactical exercises. They will mostly consist of drills in tight areas with the ball
- Early afternoons will be dedicated to muscle strengthening and reinforcing or to video analysis sessions
- The last training sessions take place in the evening, and are completely dedicated to playing. The campers will play matches on smaller pitches or a soccer tournament will take place.
It is also possible to take part in this camp as a goalkeeper. This position is unique and, as well as the group sessions, requires more personalised and specialised sessions.
To be able to perform the video analysis sessions, all the mornings’ training sessions and the evening matches will be filmed. Your child’s performance on the pitch will be analysed, which will help them understand what areas of their game they need to improve and strengthen. This is a massive benefit of this soccer camp.
Coaches and coaching method
The IDA soccer camps are organised and conducted by coaches with over 20 years of experience and considerable coaching qualifications, including UEFA Pro and UEFA A licenses. They possess all the qualities that UEFA requires to coach young players, and will know how to make your child improve and progress.
They are the ones who design and implement the IDA training method, based on technical and tactical training that is then applied in the evening matches. Combine that with video analysis sessions, and you have one of England’s most complete training programs. Your kids will truly live just like professional soccer players for two weeks.
Staff and activities
IDA staff will be present on the campus day and night. The campers will never be alone, and will always be taken care of by coaches or other staff members.
They will supervise the campers’ free time and will also accompany the kids on the trips. They will make sure this camp is one that your kids will never, ever forget.
Trips and days out
Soccer is at the heart of this soccer camp, but culture is also emphasised, to make sure that the campers will have non-soccer memories to bring home with them.
The most memorable trip will be to London, which is a one hour drive away from Reading. Your children will explore the exceptional city and its monuments known worldwide, such as Big Ben or Buckingham Palace. The campers will enjoy a full day in England’s capital, and there will also be a chance to do some shopping to bring back some trinkets for the family.
On top of that, the accommodation is a short walk away from Reading’s town centre, and your children will be allowed to go there in their free time. Of course, an IDA staff member will accompany them. They will therefore have the chance to explore the town filled with history and notable historical buildings.
