Bordeaux, a club that massively contributed to French dominance

In the 1990s, France’s national team was firing on all cylinders and they were unstoppable in the 1998 World Cup, lifting the Jules Rimet trophy for the very first time and two years later, the Euros. Two of their best players were Bordeaux players. The first was Lizarizu, a marauding left back who was a crucial part of the team.

The other was Zinedine Zidane, one of the best football players to ever live. Zidane could do it all and whether it was dribbling, shooting, vision, touch, or passing, you could be sure that Zidane would deliver. He scored two goals in the 1998 final and was mesmerising throughout the competition. He played 138 games for Bordeaux, and will almost certainly go down as their best ever player.
